Rain or shine...
Rain was looking imminent as we made the drive down to Tubac last December for Sarah and Jacob's wedding. It seemed a less than perfect day could be ahead of us. Then, as we entered the gates to the resort, we suddenly passed the gloom and entered a stunning, green, and incredibly lit sanctuary. A few flurries of mist were not going to stop this couple and their amazing group of family and friends from having the time of their lives. The soft, overcast clouds gave us the freedom to photograph anywhere on the property, and we were even treated to some amazing sun rays here and there. Being the incredible, always-prepared human that she is, Sarah, our bride, had ordered hundreds of umbrellas which thankfully remained in their Amazon boxes :) Everyone was in high spirits as they got ready, popped champagne, and lit cigars.
After the finishing touches were made, Sarah's Maid of Honor presented her with an incredible scrapbook, which left her emotionally wrecked- just in time for a first look with her Dad! When it was time, we brought her out to a beautiful, lush garden for her first look with Jake, and a private moment to read their vows to each other. The first look is such an intimate and jubilant sight that we always feel lucky to witness. It’s magic to see any lingering stress melt away when a couple is reunited after a busy morning apart.
We then went on to gather their family and friends for photos. Trust us- getting this done before the ceremony is a huge win. Family photos are so important, and it’s infinitely less stressful to get them done early on while everyone is still fresh.
The outdoor setup was dripping with luscious blooms from Element Designs, and the ceremony began with not a raindrop in sight. We were privileged to capture the amazing showing of love that was on display. The expertly timed processional led into a funny and heartwarming ceremony- officiated by one of the groomsmen. My favorite ceremonies are ones that by the end, I feel like I've known the couple for ages. This one did not disappoint. The "I do’s" were followed up by a truly epic dip kiss, and cheers that must have been heard in the houses down the street.
After signing the marriage license, we got to have an awesome time doing their couple’s portraits- it felt more like a double date than work. They’re clearly a stunning couple, but they were also just fun to hang out with.
