Denae & Chad’s Vibey Downtown Tucson Wedding at Historic Bank

ree

If you’re dreaming of a Tucson wedding venue that combines history, luxury, and next level food, you’ll fall in love with The Treasury 1929. Built as a lavish bank in 1929, this newly restored downtown Tucson venue has quickly become one of the most sought-after spaces for weddings and events. Located right off the I-10, it’s a convenient drive for couples traveling from Scottsdale, Phoenix, or anywhere in Southern Arizona, making it a perfect destination wedding spot without the airfare.

For Denae and Chad, The Treasury wasn’t just the newest hot venue in town, it was also deeply personal. Denae’s mother manages properties in the area, and her connection to the building made this location even more meaningful. Their wedding blended romance, timeless design, and unforgettable experiences that showed off everything Tucson has to offer.

Setting the Scene: A Venue Full of History and Style

The Treasury 1929 is unlike any other Tucson wedding venue. With its original vaults, soaring lobby ceilings, and modern upgrades from renowned Tucson restaurateur Danny Scordato, the space offers both elegance and convenience.

On wedding day, the couple made full use of the building’s unique getting-ready suites. Denae and her bridesmaids prepped in the upstairs vaults, surrounded by ornate steel doors that made for unforgettable bridal portraits. Meanwhile, Chad and his groomsmen enjoyed the basement speakeasy, styled like a retro gentleman’s barbershop…complete with games, a full bar, and 1920’s art deco style.

A Custom Italian Gown and Timeless Details

Denae wore a one-of-a-kind custom three-piece gown designed by La Sposa di Firenze, an atelier in Florence, Italy. The changeable skirt allowed her to have multiple looks throughout the day, a true showstopper for a modern bride who loves fashion. Her hair and makeup were flawlessly done by Heather Van Houten Makeup & Hair, ensuring she looked radiant from first look to last dance.

One of the standout personal touches was the couple’s wedding program, a full newspaper telling their love story, how they met, their proposal, details about the wedding party, and fun facts for guests. It even included recommendations for out-of-town guests on what to do in Tucson. This newspaper program was such a hit that it quickly inspired other couples at The Treasury to do the same.

First Look and Downtown Portraits
Couple embraces under a chandelier in a brick archway. The woman wears a white gown, the man a black suit. Romantic, sunlit setting.

Denae and Chad shared their first look in the venue’s intimate brick courtyard, a private moment filled with joy before heading downtown with their wedding party.

One unforgettable surprise came from the bride’s mother, who arranged to have the couple’s names and wedding date displayed on the marquee of the historic Fox Theatre across the street. It made for an incredible photo op and a memory the couple will never forget. The groomsmen wore sleek suits while the bridesmaids stunned in flowing gowns in different shade from blush to champagne…a perfect palette to complement their floral scape.

Ceremony in the Grand Lobby

As guests arrive they were greeted by the grandeur of the former bank lobby teller area. The ceremony started promptly at 5:00 pm, with 270 guests seated in elegant long rows down the center of the historic space. A live string quartet played from the balcony as the room came alive with a floral design that was truly next level. Bloom Maven transformed the ceremony site into a romantic indoor garden, taking full advantage of the venue’s historic architecture.

At the front of the aisle, the couple was framed by full draping in soft ivory, which softened the grand marble and stone. The historic Venetian mirrors peeked out just enough to reflect the glow of candlelight, while the iconic clock above remained uncovered, a striking symbol of the buildings history. On either side of Denae and Chad stood two towering floral installations in shades of white and blush, creating a picture-perfect altar space.

What set this design apart, however, was the sheer abundance of florals and candlelight used throughout the ceremony.  What looked to be hundreds of glass vases filled with white blooms and flickering candles lined the half walls of the bank lobby, surrounding guests in an atmosphere of warmth and romance. This level of floral styling is rare for Arizona weddings, where outdoor ceremonies are more common and the desert sun is often unforgiving to delicate blooms. Indoors at The Treasury, every petal thrived, and the result was breathtaking.

After the ceremony, the floral design showed its versatility. The front ceremony area framed the couple’s sweetheart table and the vases of blooms and candles were repurposed into stunning centerpieces for the long family-style reception tables, stretching the beauty of the ceremony into the evening celebration. It was a masterclass in intentional floral design, maximizing impact while keeping everything cohesive and timeless.

With music drifting down from above, candlelight glowing on every surface, and the historic clock standing tall behind them, Denae and Chad’s ceremony felt like stepping into a European romance right in the heart of downtown Tucson.

Cocktails, Dinner, and Dancing the Night Away

Following the ceremony, guests moved upstairs for cocktail hour while portraits continued outside and in the family photo area. The staff seamlessly flipped the ceremony space into a long banquet-style reception, with romantic candlelight and the repurposed florals as centerpieces.

Dinner service began after everyone was welcome back down to the main area, with Scordato’s culinary team delivering a plated meal that was as unforgettable as the setting.

After dinner, the couple shared their first dance, parent dances, and toasts before the dance floor opened. Thomas Dean with Elite Mobile Entertainment kept the energy high, transforming the night into a luxury party with dramatic lighting, where every guest was on their feet.

A Speakeasy After-Party

To close out the evening, Denae and Chad invited guests downstairs to the speakeasy, where the celebration continued with cocktails, darts, and cozy booths tucked inside historic safety deposit boxes. It was the perfect ending to a day filled with history, style, and joy.
